Par H @Parhwy 2d The Ultimate Oppa (2022) is a 109-minute-long Philippine-Korean romcom I saw on Prime in March 2026. This is a cute, simple and heartwarming film, with a Hallmark or made-for-TV vibe without being too gauche or gaudy. Sets, scenes, costumes, make-up are all squeaky clean. The plot is presented front and centre early on, mere minutes. The film really is how it unravels and ties itself into a neat bow by the end. The story and script, though awks at times, is clinical, efficient... Logic and credulity are lesser players in romcoms and that is true here. Most scenes are interiors or close-up exteriors, so there is not much showcasing the Philippines nor Korea (except the ski resort). For a movie having a K-Pop idol as a key character, there is little music, even the background music feels like generic romcom fare. Rewatch? No. Recommend? No. 4/10. See more Read all reviews
