Uncle Tom suffers from an overreliance on pundits. Its most compelling insights come from people who've never been quoted in a Twitter or Facebook battle. Go to Full Review

It's a little misleading in some areas, especially if you know the players involved in this doc, but there are a lot of interesting historical facts about the breakdown of the Black family and how the whole welfare system targeted the Black community. Go to Full Review

W.L. C @WayneCampbell Jun 17 As a white man in America, I believe it's important to listen to communities outside my own to understand their perspectives concerning accepted social norms and iniquities. I went in with high hopes of learning about black conservatism, and for the first 50 minutes it was enlightening and informative. And then... Well, the remaining hour was a morass of Republican versus Democrat platforms; 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘡𝘩π˜ͺ𝘯𝘨 is reduced to petty, stupid party politics. The same tired talking points and conspiracies of white conservatism are read from the MAGA script, and it's just so irritatingly boring to hear. I'd love to give it a higher score for the sheer audacity of its ambition, but its reliance on being obtuse and contrarian makes it impossible to do so. If you're on the left side of the political aisle you'll likely hate it from the jump, but if you go in with an open mind, it has a lot of good information and tells a good story. It's sad that it has a lot of 1/2 star reviews on here. Tells you all you need to know about those reviewers. The production is perfect, very simple and focuses on the content - also connecting unseen imagery with the points being made. Loved all the contributors and overall the hopeful and confident stances that choose to take. I really appreciated this film and will be watching the sequel soon.
