Three married couples undergoing therapy are summoned by their female psychologist to a meeting. The psychologist won't be attending the reunion herself, but she will give to them instructions about what they must do. Thus, to the sound of a horn (literally), the six protagonists will gradually air their dirty laundry concerning their relationships and bring up issues like taking care of the kids, the different home tasks, money, jealousy and sex, until it all leads to a most unexpected and equally shocking end.

Just when you think you have Under Therapy figured out, it reveals an additional stunt move it's been keeping under wraps. The eleventh-hour reveal may have worked well on the stage, but in this cinematic form, it made this viewer feel like a sucker. Go to Full Review

The six-person ensemble is strong from top to bottom, but in the end it’s the quietest performance—Malena Alterio’s submissive Marta—that is the most memorable, lending this entertaining romp a poignant feminist edge. Go to Full Review

The tone is closer to an opportunistic social message than to ironic deconstruction, which adds pretension to an already weak film. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Marco L @decatur555 Mar 1, 2026 Some films look small and end up more uncomfortable than you expect. This one starts almost like a stage play: three couples in a group therapy session that gradually uncovers conflicts, lies and open wounds. What begins light, even playful, becomes a pretty direct reflection on sexism and power inside a couple. Gerardo Herrero adapts the original play intelligently, using the closed space to build tension without losing rhythm, and balancing black comedy and drama without preaching or easy caricature. The biggest strength is the cast. Alexandra Jimenez, Malena Alterio, Eva Ugarte, Fele Martinez, Antonio Pagudo and Juan Carlos Vellido fit together like a perfectly tuned machine, which is key when almost everything rests on dialogue and glances. The script releases information carefully until an ending that recasts earlier behavior. It entertains while asking uncomfortable questions about attitudes our society has normalized.
