[A] highly-watchable, enjoyably-preposterous, testosterone-laden thriller.

As far as does-what-itsays-on-the-tin popcorn fodder goes, this is right on the money.

It's Washington's Everyman who keeps the film honest.

Think of Speed or the car chase from Bullitt; think of that first paying audience screaming at that first locomotive coming at them from the screen, 11 decades ago in Paris, France.

It's a buttock-clenching ride, even though stringing out some of the early potential disasters would have made it tenser still.

It's an old school, action-packed explosion of a movie and amazingly a ticket for this train ride is actually worth the price.

Solidly directed, enjoyable action thriller with a decent script and strong performances from the two leads, though it's also entirely predictable from beginning to end.

Unstoppable isn't a bad film per-se, but it's a by the numbers thriller that isn't remotely thrilling, and will do very well indeed to make back its remarkable $100m budget.

It is "Speed" on rails with Denzel as Keanu and Pine as Bullock.

Even the irritations of Tony Scott's filmmaking -- the high-contrast cinematography, the habitual mini-zooms and camera 'readjustments' -- can't derail this fun thriller.

Washington is arguably the only star who could pull off such a cheeseball character, and to this end, he's complemented by Scott...
