Between jokes about duck sex, Kangana Ranaut, and the moral bankruptcy of the Indian middle-class, Vir Das finds quiet moments of poignancy and introspection in his sixth Netflix special. Go to Full Review

“Silence is happiness and happiness is silence,” Das jokes in explaining a conventional bit of Indian wisdom. And yet he seems happiest here when he takes a moment to revel in the fact that his voice has fully recovered. Go to Full Review

The best thing about Vir Das is that, unlike today’s younger stand-up comedians, each of his shows is well-researched and sharp, and most importantly, it is connected to the present-day situations and socio-political news happening around us. Go to Full Review

Yash B @yashbansal Aug 23 Vir Das is one of the best when it comes to making engaging comedy specials, and "Fool Volume" is a very solid one. I think he has a few that are better, but as a fan, I still found a lot of enjoyment in this one, and think the overarching theme of it is very profound. It is not the first time he has switched between a few shows to compile a cohesive special, but I felt the gimmick didn't work quite as strongly as it has in previous specials. Still, I think it is cool to see how certain jokes resonate more with certain audiences and enjoyed the style of it. Overall, it is a really solid special with good jokes and topics, and it continues to keep me invested in whatever Vir Das does next in the stand-up world. The whole jumping from a serious point to a funny point, it's fun. When done in moderation. It has become old now, too many comics use it, it is reeeally predictable. Coming to look at the video as a whole, the script was weird, it didn't flow. It was so annoying because he kept jumping from story to story that had nothing to do one another. No structure. As if that was not ugh enough, the jokes were not funny either. Sure, a small haha here and there but Das has more potential than that. The little call back moment that he did in the end, it was like, "I knew a callback was coming but really? You choose THIS to callback and with such bad writing?". The editting? Ehh. It wasn't that great. The standout moments were the wide angles of the stadium and the church and especially when he did the whole Freddie Mercury thing. That was the only moment that you could see exactly why people like Vir Das. But this time, Vir under delivered. It is almost that he put too much thought into it, was too concious. One sentence review? You'll live even if you don't see it and you will miss no meme references because there will not be any. See more Walli b Jul 20 class behenchod!!!!! See more Read all reviews
