An Afghani father weights his family's honor against his allegiance to his daughter after she is seduced and impregnated by a handsome waiter. Wajma was just a wide-eyed student when she first met Mustafa, and it wasn't long before passions flared. When Wajma becomes pregnant, Mustafa accuses her of sleeping around. The volatile situation quickly turns violent when Wajma's father enters the picture, and is compelled to take action. Audience Reviews for Wajma (An Afghan Love Story)

With an appropriate naturalistic approach - almost documentary-like - that makes it feel like witnessing a real story, this gut-wrenching Afghan drama shows that a patriarchal society dominated by ignorance and revolting religious values can only lead to intolerance and suffering.
