War for the Planet of the Apes Reviews

War for the Planet of the Apes is a great movie. There are a lot of heavy, dramatic sequences and I would say this movie compromises entertainment for meaningful content. Everything serves the characters and story. This movie has death, suffering, plight, heroism and empathy. The effects are astonishing.. Apparently this movie requires an active viewer. A person actually has to show up, absorb the content of a film that will not pander to, "give me action" needs. It is surprising to me that the third film in this trilogy would improve so much on the previous two films. The music both blends in and adds to the drama/action. Beautiful camera work in interesting locations, and several unique characters. This movie is full of great character building, and all the big moments really land where they should. Overall, you should watch it for yourself and shouldn't believe in negative reviews. Those who gave negative reviews to this movie are those who wanted only fight/ action scenes and those who don't have knowledge of pure cinema.

Even if it is a bit slow in the beginning, it is worth the wait (because these slow moments create real characters and also relatable ones), Andy Serkis gives an eternal performance, the special effects are incredible and amazing. The performances of the cast of apes and humans are top-notch, Woody Harrelson embodies an interesting human antagonist and Amiah Miller is a sight to be seen (with a mute and pretty performance). The mix of war, drama and biblical references in the screenplay are marvelous and unforgettable. A pretty, fitting, emotional conclusion to this series and the the journey of Caesar is fully completed (beautifully and poignant, by the way).

"We are not savages.

Good wrap-up to the series but it was a little drawn out.

Frustratingly slow plot that feels like it unfolds in an ever dwindling world of possibilities. Story is predictable and the attempts at poignancy are cringeworthy. This adds nothing new or noteworthy to the trilogy and delivers a finale that suffocates rather than sounding a final note into a wider future.

It has a dark and gritty tone, and a dramatic, emotive and impactful narrative, not unlike Logan. It combines its mature themes and improved social commentary with stunning visual effects, a greater character development, and a powerful script, bringing the rebooted trilogy to a poignant and emotionally satisfying conclusion.

War for the Planet of the Apes has an AWESOME opening sequence, but everything after that just falls flat. It's pretty interesting until they make it to the Army Base, and the film is BORING. It has an uninteresting new antagonist, an anticlimactic ending, and boring sequences. It's so disappointing since the beginning looked very promising. War for the Planet of the Apes is my least favorite of the trilogy.
