Warriors of Virtue Reviews
It involves suburbia, a sports film sub plot, a martial artist restaurant chef bullies, a fantasy world, Chinese myths and beliefs, and kangaroo warriors who are trying to free their world from the clutches of a stock bad guy.
This sounds so ridiculous that it may just work as a piece of entertainment. Well, no, no it doesn't. Far from it.
The list of editing, directing, and writing mistakes are endless in this film and they are just embarrassing to witness unfold. There is zero character development here, ZILCH! I never cared about them at all because they are given either no backstory or just the bare bones piece of fluff story that you can think of on the spot. The overabundance of clichés, plotholes, and lazy film editing techniques (gotta love the motion-blurring going on there during the action scenes - totally not distracting!) are enough for the film to treat me more like a buffoon rather than being entertaining or time investing.
There is ONE slightly redeeming quality present in the film, the most over-the-top villain I've ever seen in a motion picture. Every time he is on screen I laugh out loud because he is so bloody loony and bad that he is good.
Sadly, he is not enough to save this film because there is far too much boring dreck to sit through that take up about 90% of the film.
In the end, I just feel like a complete asshat after what I had just witnessed. Somebody please put on a better fantasy film for me to heal the wounds this film delivered to me. PLEASE AND THANK YOU!
I should really stop wrecking my childhood by realizing how horrible these movies actually are. Sigh.
