Cory S @Gator78 Aug 2, 2026 What this film captures especially well is how love changes. The early days feel effortless and almost magical in their compatibility, two people who finish each other’s sentences through the same tastes and easy intimacy. Over time that intensity softens into routine, small frictions, and the realization that even the most well matched connection can shift under the weight of growing up, different ambitions, and everyday life. It never feels forced or melodramatic, the change simply happens, and the movie trusts you to feel the quiet ache of it. The diner (or restaurant/café) scene after the wedding is the emotional peak and one of the most affecting sequences in recent Japanese cinema. The restraint, the performances by Masaki Suda and Kasumi Arimura, and the way everything unsaid finally surfaces make it gutting in the best way, raw, adult, and heartbreaking without cheap tears. What most important after loss is the beautiful journey we have had together See more Read all reviews
