Audience Reviews for Weakness
An indie drama that tries to show a sophisticated look at the dissolution of a marriage and the subsequent mid-life crisis this brings to the man in the equation. And while I love Danielle Panabaker - the only reason I watched this - It was plain to see from the start that the rebound relationship with a just graduated student was going to be trouble. The relationships in this movie were all absurd. The characters have no depth, and I could make no connection with them. Clearly this didn't work for me.
Cast: Bobby Cannavale, Danielle Panabaker, June Diane Raphael, Josh Charles, Lily Rabe, Keith Nobbs, Phyllis Somerville, Daniel Sunjata, Heather Burns, Alex Kaluzhsky, Katherine Sigismund, Chris Beetem Director: Michael Melamedoff Summary: Suburban high school teacher Joshua Polansky (Bobby Cannavale) finds his world coming apart by degrees over summer vacation when his wife (June Diane Raphael) announces she's ready to end their marriage and a host of other family problems rear their ugly head. Joshua's response: A full-scale retreat from adult life that involves embarking on a romance with a former student (Danielle Panabaker), who has qualms of her own about life. My Thoughts: "Being unhappy in a marriage is what this film is mostly about. As the formula goes one of them cheat but calls it a cry for help. Simply there is no need to cheat. If your unhappy get a divorce instead of cheating to give yourself an easy out. Having relations with a former student is just gross no matter if the student is of age and out of the school. It still says something of that persons character. Through all of that there were some funny moments and some touching ones too. I enjoyed the relationship Josh has with his brother Pete. I found Danielle Panabaker's character Danielle to be funny and honest. Not a great film by far, but still one worth taking a looking at."
