This is an interesting and "weird" movie, but not that great.

Weird Woman is more entertaining than good as its main theme is the battle between superstition and skepticism. More than anything, it's melodrama with a few atmospheric touches as Lon Chaney, Jr brings home a bride from a jungle expedition to the college town where he resides. Someone gets jealous, builds a web of deception and several plot points are hit with some standard cookie-cutter characters present. Ann Gwynne isn't particularly weird and none of the performances especially stand out (especially Chaney's.) Director Reginald Le Borg's direction is the only real standout when it's allowed to do so. I know Weird Woman isn't a great movie, but I really enjoyed it.
