Movie Info

Adrian, an irrepressibly chirpy tech nerd, has OCD. Grace, a beautiful street artist, has Multiple Personality Disorder. As new neighbours in an edgy, graffitied suburb of Melbourne, they find themselves in therapy with the same psychiatrist and crash into each other one afternoon. As Adrian becomes aware of a threat to Grace lurking in the form of a fellow street artist 'Sledgehammer', Adrian knows he should help Grace. But he struggles to break free of his OCD in order to do it. Will he overcome his biggest fear? It's a love story that seems impossible. But what if it works?

  • This is a film - and filmmaker - unafraid to trust her instinct, and with industry support and the further mentorship it demonstrates Trower has the potential to be a dynamic, energetic and fearless Australian filmmaker.

Audience Reviews for What If It Works?

  • Aug 05, 2018
From Melbourne, Australia, comes a new take on a staple of the rom-com genre, the old "what if they're both crazy?" scenario (Bringing Up Baby is just one example). The leads do well enough under the constraints of their maladies, but the work itself fails to ever leave "rehashed" territory, never ignites that "well this is different" spark absolutely necessary to the format's success. Even the transvestites, only included to enliven the proceedings with life not present otherwise, feel contrived.
