White Irish Drinkers Reviews

A period drama that's as predictable and cliched as green beer on St. Patrick's Day.

The dialogue and action in White Irish Drinkers couldn't be more on the nose if the film was intended to be a parody. Sadly, Gray means for us to take it seriously.

Under no circumstances would I recommend that you see "White Irish Drinkers." But if you do, a good, stiff belt would not be a bad idea.

A movie that one watches with the sense of pushing it up a hill.

All the good intentions in the world can't save "White Irish Drinkers'' from playing like the baldest of retreads.

"White Irish Drinkers" is a study in cinematic mediocrity.

John Gray's Noo Yawker indie is a stubborn throwback to the Sundance-fueled, ethnic-neighborhood movie of the early '90s, when every film-school grad with a fresh head full of Mean Streets decided he would be the next Scorsese.

Couching clichs in self-conscious nostalgia does nothing to lessen their corniness in White Irish Drinkers, a coming-of-age saga notable only for its staleness.

I never could shake the feeling that this is exactly the sort of project Vinnie Chase would be hot for on "Entourage".
