Shortly before the 1973 Chilean coup, CIA agents Chris (John Malkovich) and Lee (Sam Rockwell) are dispatched from Santiago to Easter island by their bureau chief, MJ (Steve Buscemi). Wild Horse Nine doesn’t stray too far from Martin McDonagh’s wheelhouse but it’s a glorious place to visit, uproariously funny and quietly moving. Malkovich and Rockwell make a double act for the ages.

As one might expect from McDonagh, Wild Horse Nine is a profane, acridly funny hangout comedy, with periodic bursts of violence and one of the funniest Manson Family jokes I’ve heard in years.
