A woman tries to make sense of her relationship with her mother -- who also happens to be her boss and landlady -- in this dramatic comedy. With lesser actors on display, I shudder to think at how shrieky and pandering this production could have become. Fortunately, this one stars Laura Linney and Gena Rowlands.
