In this comedy, scandal and gossip abounds when a rumor is perpetuated that the dowdy, unmarried Susan Middlecott (Rosalind Russell), the college dean, is having an affair with a handsome visiting professor (Ray Milland). As Susan struggles to quell the rumor and get her life back to normal, her scheming father has an entirely different plan.
