Movie Info

While the best known figures in the glory days of rockabilly were men -- most notably Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, Gene Vincent, and Eddie Cochran -- there was also a handful of women who were determined to make their mark wailing on the fusion of country and R&B styles. Welcome to the Club: The Women of Rockabilly is a documentary which looks at the careers of pioneering female rockers Wanda Jackson, Brenda Lee, Janis Martin, and Lorrie Collins, in which they share their stories of blazing a trail for wild, new sounds in the '50s while facing down stereotypes of how women in music were supposed to look, sound, and behave.
