Trio of classic short stories features some great writing and performances. Elizabeth McGovern & Beau Bridges are probably the best and in the best segment written & directed by Frederic Raphael and based on a short story by Mary McCarthy. Molly Ringwald & Peter Weller are probably the weakest in the Valerie Curtain (writer) and Ken Russell segment based on a story by Dorothy Parker. (Apparently his segment was re-edited and rescored after he finished it.) The last segment featuring James Woods & Melanie Griffith in a Hemingway story directed by Tony Richardson are very good and probably have the most emotional weight to carry. It'd be nice if we had more experimental productions like this today.
