Movie Info

The elusive Ivory Billed Woodpecker was officially declared extinct in the 1940s, so could recently reported sightings in the Arkansas bayou have any foundation in fact? As busloads of fanatical birdwatchers descend upon a small Arkansas town in hopes of being the first to find evidence of the Ivory Billed Woodpecker, amateur birder/poet Johnny Neander remains certain he'll be the one to confirm the bird's existence. Meanwhile, the search intensifies, pitting the believers against the skeptics and pitting local environmentalists against scheming entrepreneurs.

After 10 minutes, you're going to be questioning and second-guessing. That's part of the ass-backwards, off-kilter enjoyment of the film.
