  • It is especially impressive that Days of Future Past is a success; a film this gooey and complex, with such business-minded scope, should not feel like a real movie at all.

  • Here's the thing about comic book heroes. Despite all the noble talk about metaphors, idealism, truth and justice, they're basically just bully-boy fantasies of limitless male aggression... The X-Men, however, have always aspired to something different.

  • Much of this takes place in the early 1970s, which gives the filmmakers an excuse to haul out lots of vintage kitsch and make some rather tasteless references to the Vietnam war.

  • The results are both dazzling and intimate, clever and - during one tour-de-force sequence - spectacularly funny.

  • I would be remiss not to note that tucked away amid all the existential melodrama is perhaps the most hilarious set piece ever to grace a superhero film.

  • Quicksilver ... is the coolest of this picture's new guys, zipping around so fast ... that he can taste soup, rearrange guards' limbs, and nudge bullets off their trajectories all in the time it takes to blink.

intriguing re-entry of bryan singer into the x-world. again loved the james mcavoy & michael fassbender dynamic. i think fassbender would make a good new james bond! highlights were the introduction of quicksilver and magneto moving a whole football stadium.

X-Men: Days of Future Past is a definite big-budget triumph, especially when compared to the lacklustre efforts of its successor, X-Men Apocalypse. The plot is so clever and doesn't insult Marvel's hardcore fans by changing important elements of the story or not giving certain characters enough screen time. Thankfully, in such a huge cast no one is really overshadowed and everyone plays their part well, something else that Apocalypse really should have done. The razor sharp bleakness of the future corresponds ridiculously well with Singer's dreamy and familiar vision of the past. It follows alot of the same tropes at the same time however, but they are all presented different enough that they are new and exciting but obvious enough that they are surpass a hint and become homage. Magneto's catastrophic display of destruction, themes of segregation and genetic seclusion, politics and a seemingly indestructible enemy. A really fantastic entry and my second favourite entry in the series.

In an age of Mega-Blockbusters based on the most pioneering comic book properties, it was only a matter of time before X-Men would get that treatment. 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' turned out to be the 'Ultimate' X-Men film to date, reuniting many of the old cast members as well as the new from 'First Class', in an incredibly ambitious huge scale Apocalyptic, Time Travel and Thrilling film. This might also be seen as Bryan Singer's atonement piece to the franchise after leaving it after the first two films, and reclaiming the franchise's former glory intersecting the timeline of 'First Class'. Then again, the quality of this film surpassed all my expectations, both theatrically and the Director/Rogue Cut, it's probably the best film the franchise has on offer to date. The film ambitious scale is kept intact as are it's incredibly talented cast of incredibly performed actors of well written characters, that have kept this film series very consistent to date. Add to that, the multiple narrative structure and plot threads are a marvel to behold upon the film's story. Whether or not the upcoming, 'Apocalypse' can match up to, if not getting close to surpassing the quality of this film, we'll just have to see for ourselves to find out (for the most part).
