Critic Reviews for Yakona
Unapologetic in its activist bent, the film is just as relentless in its beauty.
With nary a word of narration and only one explanatory onscreen title, at the very end, the hybrid documentary Yakona tells a captivating story through a rich blend of sound and image.
A film that would have been more potent had it been a 40-minute short rather than a feature-length proposition.
The documentary is very impressive and enchants the eye with its stream of poetic images. It also has almost no narration; it simply wants us to watch in wonder.
Co-helmers [Paul] Collins and Anlo Sepulveda capture the wonder and delicacy of a life-giving tributary in all its complex and captivating glory.
