The film's political authenticity comes into doubt because the characters are so superficial.

Audience Reviews for Year of the Gun

A surprisingly weak performance from McCarthy, a typical one from Stone, poor directing, and even Conti's score doesn't really fit.

So apparently the lack of subtitles was unintentional? Didn't actually feel like I was missing anything.

Dull and boring political thriller with a few interesting sequences (such as the robbery scene shown in slow motion with freeze frames to indicate camera snaps). It tries to be provocative in its commentary of terrorism in Italy, but it only ends up saying absolutely nothing. Recommended only for Frankenheimer fans, all others should skip it.
