Gritty Neil Young doc with some of his most rockin tunes (if not all his very best performances), and some cool on-the-fly interview bits, including a bible reading from Young and Jarmusch on a bus. Great end sequence with Like a Hurricane too.
Jim Jarmusch shot this documentary/live about Neil Young and his band Crazy Horse as they toured in 1996. It was shot on low quality film stock intentionally (Super 8mm, and 16mm film stocks as well as Hi-8 Video Tape), and the look is part of the charm. Quite frankly, if you don't like Neil Young and his music, avoid this altogether. It was made for people who really like Neil Young. I liked it for what it was, but it is a little hard to recommend to someone who is only a casual fan of Young and his work.
2/4 Stars This was a documentary about Neil Young and Crazy Horse, but this movie was boring in most of these parts. The music was okay and boring at the same time. Like I said, this was boring in second half, and I was ready to turn it off. I think that Neil Young is a fine artist, but I don't think that this documentary is something for people to watch over and over again.
