Basically this film is a mockumentary about what happens when 6 actresses, all from different generations, supposedly, come together for a photo shoot for Vogue and how they interact with each other. The Netflix description made this movie seem like it would be far more catty than it ended up being. It doesn't seem to me like, with the exception of two actresses having issues with each other, that anyone else really had any problems doing this photo shoot. It was more about how all these actresses from different generations come together and how they share stories of their experiences as actresses in South Korea. Problem is that the film, being structured like a documentary, doesn't really have enough material to justify its length. This, honestly, should've been like a one-hour special. While the film has some insight about how it must be to be an actress in South Korea and how mistakes other people make are somehow lumped onto you, for whichever reason, and the fact that some people will dislike you, no matter what you do. Like the scene where they're having dinner and the women are just talking, shooting the shit, is easily the best scene in the entire film because it feels genuine. It feels like the women are talking from the heart instead of being given material to perform. It's a shame the rest of the film doesn't really match the strength and insight of this particular scene. There is some jealousy between the two actresses with tension, but it's not really explored in-depth. One scene they're angry with each other and the next they're fine. What I can't complain about is the group of actresses they chose. They're very good together. As the film progresses you sense this bond between them starting to build. By the end of the film, while you don't get the feeling they're gonna be 'sisters' for life, you DO get the feeling that they were closer to each other than they were at the beginning of this shoot. That's not an easy thing to achieve. But, as mentioned, the film feels so empty thematically speaking that it can be a bit of a chore to sit through at times. It has some funny moments, but I think a lot is lost in translation, because the women would start laughing at something that had no comedy in it. It wasn't that it was unfunny, it's that there was no comedy to begin with. So I blame that on the translation. Either that or cultural differences. This isn't bad at all, it just doesn't make good use of its talented leads with a compelling story. There's definitely a lot of filler here, it's an unjustified feature-length film, sadly. I can't really recommend it because of that.
