Pale imitation of It Happened One Night fails to capture the magic of the first, a fools errand, but is pleasant enough. One of the problems is that Jack Lemmon & June Allyson share little chemistry, a vital component to the first film. Well made but lacking.

Early Jack Lemmon is charming in this wonderful road film. Sure, it's not "It Happened One Night" but it's a fine way to pass the time.

It was ok, but see the original cause it is way better.

Boy, is this a turkey! The idea of making "It Happened One Night" into a musical was so misguided. Early annoying Lemon gives you an inkling to the 'style' he'd bring to nearly all his movies. And the idea that June Allyson is attractive and not boringly wholesome? What were they thinking?

It pales in comparison to It Happened One Night...and June Allyson was way too old for the part. She was 39...8 years older than Jack and the part is supposed to be a young girl in her 20s. I loved seeing Jack Lemmon sing though :)

This movie should never have been made. "It Happened One Night" is a classic for a reason... it is very temporal and to try and do a re-make of a depression-era film in 1956 is ridiculous. Furthermore, Jack Lemmon is NOT Clark Gabel and June Allyson (much as I like her) is definitely not Claudette Colbert. Add some silly dancing to the mix in their attempt to make it a light-hearted comedy and you basically ruin every reason the movie was successful in the first place. In summation... this movie should never have been made. I just hope June doesn't try to sing at any point, but knowing her she will... let's face it, the woman can't sing! ADDENDUM: Oh god no! She is singing... *cries* my poor little ears... why oh why does she keep trying to make musicals?!?!?!
