Movie Info

Tired from years on the road as a family vaudeville act, Joe (Jack Oakie) and Kit Ballantine (Charlotte Greenwood) move with their daughter, Wendy (Shirley Temple), to a small New England town in search of a normal life. However, when they arrive, the Ballantines find that the locals, including a curmudgeonly schoolteacher (Kathleen Howard), aren't interested in welcoming performers to their town. But when a massive storm hits, the family is given a chance to prove its worth.

I liked this one a lot. Although Shirley still had dead parents in this one, she never knew it because she was adopted when still a baby and was in a cute little showbiz family. The way they clash with the narrow-minded small town folk could just as easily happen in a lot of places today!
