Yves Saint Laurent as portrayed in the film comes off as no deeper than a symbol, much like that familiar brand logo that dominates the key poster art.

A visually sumptuous - and perhaps languidly paced - tale that immerses the viewer in a deeply atmospheric world.

This biopic of 'fashion's little prince' offers all the elegant precision of a fashion shoot - it's beautiful, and cold - but lacks a lot of necessary context.
