SIMAS C @simas_eros Oct 23, 2026 Although released in 2001, this film has a visual, narrative and even musical aesthetic as 1990s as it gets. With fine, distinctive direction by a woman, it follows a couple who venture into swinging and end up caught in a web of obsession and crime. Made in an almost TV-movie style, the story starts out intriguing, largely thanks to direction that builds erotic tension and good pacing, with attention to detail and beautiful, seductive imagery. The cast is good (an ex-Penthouse model plays the wife and mother, a curious choice), with glances that take centre stage. Its only misfortunes are an inability to avoid moralising about the consequences of deviant behaviour, also very 1990s, and a third act that loses all structure and credibility, with a forced ending where things just happen. Overall, it has strong erotic potential, especially early on, and direction that uses silence and detail well, but clichés and a poorly resolved ending denied it the attention it deserved. Breaking up is hard to do when one side refuses to accept its over. Things get so bad that Alan considers a transfer to Cleveland to break from the situation.
