Movie Info

The surreal and the supernatural join forces in this extremely unusual "AIDS musical." The story features the ghost of the Canadian airline steward who, according to And the Band Played On, Randy Shilts' book about the origin of the AIDS, was the original HIV carrier.

Amid the farce there are moments of lucidity and informative dialog that's both telling and historically important.

Zero Patience, an absurd musical comedy, is a gem amidst the gravel of New Queer Cinema. Though it contains many of the contrived hallmarks of its dreary contemporaries, it's also - unlike them - a very funny, smart and moving film.

Audience Reviews for Zero Patience

Zero Patience is an avant garde musical about the patient zero urban legend who was rumour to be the person responsible for bring AIDS to North America. The plot was actually not too bad despite being incomprehensible, the numbers were unimpressive, acting was awful. The redeemable element was the enthusiastic performance by John Robinson and the anachronistic production.

A cheekily agitating "AIDS musical." Juggling MTV-style numbers, intellectual in-jokes and very sexual politics, "Zero Patience" is -- like the Canadian director's prior "Urinal" and "The Making of 'Monster' "-- often more impressive in conceptual daring than execution.
