  • It's an okay DVD rental choice but doesn't go beyond that.

  • With its quick pace and witty writing, it's a nonstop, snarky ride.

  • It is never properly scary. Mostly, it is just very silly, but because the film knows it is silly, it's all rather infectious and not the big, cliché-pumped bore it might otherwise have been.

  • Warts, entrails and all, I had a ball at Zombieland. It's 81 minutes of my kind of stupid.

  • Woody Harrelson has a rip-roaring time in this comic splatterfest as a redneck from hell who is out to kill zombies. It's the kind of genre acting that doesn't get much notice, but it's a gleeful rampage of a performance.

  • Packed with the genre's standard overdose of blood and guts. Add in a charming band of misfits and you get something thrilling, hilarious and sweet, all at the same time.

Audience Reviews for Zombieland

There is some (probably requisite) violence in this zombie thriller, but it's also got humor, some nice touches in editing, and it's very entertaining. The cast is fantastic, with Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, Jesse Eisenberg, and Abigail Breslin all turning in performances perfectly tuned to the genre. The scenes with Bill Murray are all very funny, and one part in particular is absolutely hilarious, but I won't spoil it. Eisenberg channels Woody Allen at times with his shy awkwardness. Trying to do both comedy and horror is difficult, but director Ruben Fleischer really pulls it off. This is a fun movie to watch.

Zombieland is not dissimilar to Shaun of the Dead in its level of probing satire and bleak humour. The half indie-horror and half angsty comedy - on a level parring with Juno - Zombieland uses the undead as a metaphor for growing up, the inevitable fight between wild youth and the grey conformity of adulthood, and where else are we safe but a theme park completely devoid of all zombies. The longer I think of Zombieland the smarter it gets, but unfortunately I didn't really enjoy watching it that much enough to want to watch it again. The ever-pleasing Emma Stone was wonderful once again, however not much else is there to stifle any interest.

"Zombieland" is a great movie with a lot of funny scenes. The pacing is perfect and the interactions between the characters will keep you engaged. One thing I particularly like is how throughout the film Columbus goes over rules on how to survive the zombie apocalypse. Double tap, now that couldn't be true enough. Also gotta love Bill Murray!
