A nicely done piece for such a personal story: harrowing, heroic, and occasionally gripping.

Rebound (2014)
It's solid enough to merit a watch, but it is at its best when, like Jaws, we don't see the danger explicitly, we just know that it's out there.

Too much of this film feels like a half-baked Saturday Night Live skit stretched to the fraying point.

Moss lets his characters and their stories unfold, crafting a film from them intuitively through the right interview questions and the art of editing, but never placing a narrative on it that feels forced.

Willow Creek (2014)
I love all of Goldthwait's films (except one) but I wasn't sure what his goal was with Willow Creek. I can rest assured now that like any good filmmaker, he wanted to take the audience for a hell of a ride and tell a great story. He has succeeded.

Glazer continues to bat 1.000, which is both good and bad. Good because he makes amazing films, bad because he's only made three in 14 years.

For the first hour, the film is utterly fascinating. But then, Wiseman's leisurely pacing begins to become tiresome, and a sense of been-there/done-that sets in as the viewer experiences yet another gallery talk and watches yet another boardroom meeting.

These two actors are right at home, even if their characters continue to live in a place that doesn't feel that way.

It's a work that promises remarkable things from its talented creator as it boasts an incredible eye for composition and visual storytelling but I found it too narratively and thematically thin to resonate.

Happy Valley (2014)
In what could be the biggest miscarriage of justice yet, Bar-Lev has disgracefully played right into the hands of people he once exposed as the enemies, burying the lede to a sickening degree.

The Joy of Life is an experimental film with an experiment that works.

Really, there aren't many duds in this entire collection which is quite a feat.
