It's rather a slight affair.

Paranoia (2013)
It's slickly directed by Robert Luketic even though it's all pretty unbelievable. But in fact I rather enjoyed it.

I think that's what's wrong with this. The minor characters don't emerge from this at all. I'm hard pressed to discern one from the other.

The Rover (2014)
I think it is spare-genre filmmaking. It is really, really well done.

Maleficent (2014)
Giant holes in the plot are papered over by Janet McTeer's earnest narration, improbabilities abound, and it all seems longer than it actually is

Uneven yes, funny at times, yes, often uproariously so.

I found it really interesting, really beautiful. I'm giving it three stars because I didn't understand it.

The Babadook (2014)
What I really liked about this film was the cohesiveness of the ideas in it and, I don't know, I just thought it was so finely pitched and intriguing from go to whoa.

Amazing what substance in performance can do to distract from the incredible and incredibly silly.

Chef (2014)
I think this is such a beautiful film in its naturalism.

It is for most of its length a strong involving narrative with wonderful performances from the two leads, Heldenbergh and Baetens and a simply lovely one from young Nell Cattrysse.

It starts out so fabulously in Afghanistan in this armoured vehicle and these boys just start spontaneously singing Sky Takes the Soul and I went, oh, this is so unexpected and beautiful.

Child's Pose (2014)
What is so fine about this film is that Cornelia is depicted with subtlety, much of that due to the fine performance of Luminita Gheorghui.

Ida (2014)
Ida is austere, it's beautiful, but I don't know that I completely get all that Pawlikowski is trying to say with this.

Fever Pitch (2005)
A delightful romantic comedy without the excesses we've come to expect of the Farrellys.

Healing (2014)
This is possibly the most sentimental prison movie I've ever seen. And I was so grateful. It's really lovely. The performances are fabulous.

It's so pink this film. If you want a selection of wallpapers to choose from, this film has just about every single one. I think it's lovely.

Matthew Metcalfe as co-writer/producer and Leanne Pooley as co-writer/director have created a tense, detailed account of a history-making expedition that is riveting and informative, it's absolutely fascinating.

This most unlikely premise has been handled with such aplomb by Turturro, who wrote as well as directed, that you are really charmed by the film and by everyone in it.

52 Tuesdays (2015)
I think all the performances in this are terrific except for one and there is one character in this that doesn't work for me at all.

You know exactly where it is going from the start but I cannot tell you how much I cried at the end. Honestly, it was embarrassing.

It's experiential. It has mild tension, a couple of laughs, a lot of flying through the air with the greatest of ease and a lot of material damage.

Canopy (2014)
Khan Chittenden and Mo Yzu-Yi are effective enough within the limitations placed on their characters

Look, I think it goes so over the top... There are so many twists and turns too. But, look, basically I think this is an entertainment.
