Hit & Run (2012)
Dax Shephard has a really attractive presence on screen and he's terrific in this.

His singular take on young love on the run from any sort of authority has moments of sheer oddness, but it's all of a piece with his other work and you are either an Anderson fan or you're not.

Total Recall (2012)
Colin Farrell is an unlikely hero; Bill Nighy is a laughable resistance leader. Kate Beckinsale - who rushes around like a harpy - is director Len Wiseman's wife, but I don't think he's done much for her career.

Hope Springs (2012)
I reacted against it and they've got this adolescent attitude to sex that I found irritating too. Come on, grow up, guys.

Holy Motors (2012)
The film tantalizes and seduces you into a world that is mysterious but, for the most part, completely arresting.

Jeremy Renner takes over the franchise and lends his character a menacing charm.

Bernie (2012)
It's done very well indeed. I think Jack Black is wonderful. I thought that the whole progression of the film was, to me, unexpected.

The Campaign (2012)
There are some funny moments, there are some sweet moments, there is also a deep cynicism with the political agenda in the United States at the heart of this movie.

What lifts this Australian romantic-comedy above the level of most of its Hollywood counterparts is the reality of the characters and the situations and the honesty of the film's approach.

There are more laughs in [the preceding] 4 1/2 minute short than in the entire feature that follows it.

There are awkwardnesses in the film that I was not quite comfortable with but at the same time I think it looks really good.

Silent Souls (2011)
Stunningly photographed for the wide screen SILENT SOULS is another indication that the Russian cinema, despite its problems, is still capable of producing major work.

The Dictator (2012)
It builds up to this extraordinary finale and this speech he makes, which is like something out of Frank Capra practically.

Iron Sky (2012)
The performances are fine and the film, mainly shot in the studios on the Gold Coast, looks terrific most of the time; it's the script that needed more oomph.

I don't think it's the best documentary I've ever seen but certainly it does give insight into her life and work
