3.75/5 Nancy Drew: Season 2 (TV, 2020-2021) Caitlin Wyneken It's the tone we know well from the show, and with so much to keep track of after such a long time, it leads to a hectic hour -- often confusing, but with lots of authentic terror and some emotional wallop as well. EDIT

3.5/5 Fate: The Winx Saga: Season 1 (TV, 2020-2021) Allison Nichols Overall, Fate: The Winx Saga Season One is an entertaining escape into the Otherworld with fairies, specialists, and burned ones. EDIT

4.25/5 Riverdale: Season 5 (TV, 2021) Kat Pettibone Don't hold us to it, but this might be Riverdale's best season yet. Especially if they keep up with that slamming soundtrack. EDIT

4/5 Batwoman: Season 2 (TV, 2021) Stephanie Holland There was a lot of pressure on Leslie and Batwoman heading into this first outing, but everyone exceeded expectations. We hope the show is able to maintain these high standards moving forward. EDIT

3.5/5 9-1-1: Season 4 (TV, 2021) Mary Misasi All in all this [premiere] excites at all the right moments but lacks emotional depth for most of the episode. It's not a terrible start to a new season, but it's not a fantastic one either. I remain cautiously ambivalent about the season to come. EDIT

4.5/5 9-1-1: Lone Star: Season 2 (TV, 2020) Mary Misasi 9-1-1: Lone Star is making all the right moves as they head into their sophomore season. EDIT

All American: Season 3 (TV, 2021) Kat Pettibone Still, regardless of bits of bumpy dialogue, stiff acting, and strange editing, All American somehow manages to feel like coming home, and by the [premiere]'s end, it begins to feel as if we never left. EDIT
Posted Jan 19, 2021
4/5 Prodigal Son: Season 2 (TV, 2021) Carly Herriges Michael Sheen's performance on this [premiere] is fantastically unhinged. He creates an entire arc for Martin in a single episode beginning with him being at wits end in the general population, ending with his revelations about Malcolm. EDIT
Posted Jan 14, 2021
3.5/5 Trickster: Miniseries (TV, 2021) Sarah Fields [The premiere] isn't perfect and the series needs to move a little faster if it is going to succeed, but overall it's a promising start. EDIT

4/5 The Resident: Season 4 (TV, 2021) Esme Mazzeo During a TV season abundant with masks as COVID-19 continues to embed itself into the fabric of American culture, The Resident's [fourth season premiere] manages to give the pandemic respect while promising fans levity and joy ahead. EDIT

2/5 Mr. Mayor: Season 1 (TV, 2021) Erin Allen To me it's like a show that wants to be a combination of 30 Rock and Parks [and Recreation], but lacks the charm of the latter. EDIT

3.5/5 A Discovery of Witches: Season 2 (TV, 2021) Janelle Ureta Full of drama and intrigue, but not on account of the plot! Really, it is the costuming, cinematography and music that captures our attention and makes our eyes widen to saucers. EDIT

3.5/5 American Gods: Season 3 (TV, 2019-2021) Breeze Riley If last season left you feeling ambivalent about American Gods, the premiere might not be enough to win you back. But for viewers still committed to the show, there are a few bright spots... that indicate the season will be worth the investment. EDIT

4/5 Dickinson: Season 2 (TV, 2020-2021) Cristina Iskander Dickinson uses its anachronisms in a variety of ways, but it's never better than when it uses these to comment on modern day issues. EDIT

2/5 Will & Grace: Season 3 (TV, 2019) Cristina Iskander This isn't how I want Will & Grace to end. EDIT

4/5 Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist: Season 2 (TV, 2021) Ashley Bissette Sumerel I don't know about you, but I'm just really glad this show is back on my television screen. EDIT

3.5/5 Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: Part 4 (TV, 2020) Cristina Iskander It never quite reached the heights that it could have but ultimately, its final ride is a solid closing chapter. EDIT

4/5 Doctor Who: Revolution of the Daleks (TV, 2021) Lauren Busser Overall, "Revolution of the Daleks" is a solid special. The cast offers great performances and there's enough nostalgia there for the audience to really sink their teeth into. EDIT

4.75/5 The Mandalorian: Season 2 - Chapter 16: The Rescue (TV Episode) Drew Koenig Out of all of the big swings that this second season has made, this outclasses them all and is a flex that is just downright impressive in its ambition. EDIT

5/5 The Expanse: Season 5 (TV, 2020) Janelle Ureta Season 5 accomplishes the seemingly impossible... it improves upon perfection. It is just the gravity defying storytelling we have come to expect from the saved-by-Amazon series. EDIT

3.5/5 Tiny Pretty Things: Season 1 (TV, 2020) Lauren Busser It has a lot to say about the world at large and it does it without being preachy. The students at this school are human beings and they are full and fleshed out. EDIT
Posted Dec 18, 2020
4.25/5 The Mandalorian: Season 2 - Chapter 15: The Believer (TV Episode) Drew Koenig The way that this all crescendos into what the lengths you're willing to go to compromise versus how well you're able to sleep after feels really well-considered. EDIT
Posted Dec 14, 2020
3.25/5 Ashley Garcia: Genius in Love: Christmas (TV, 2020) Kat Pettibone There's very little that happens at all, but there is a satisfying amount of warm and fuzzy Christmas cheer. EDIT
Posted Dec 10, 2020
4/5 The Hardy Boys: Season 1 (TV, 2020) Kat Pettibone The Hardy Boys would have deeply benefitted from a more surprising and complex conclusion, but the journey itself is the perfect deliverance of eerie nostalgia and fun moving puzzle pieces for an audience to solve. EDIT
Posted Dec 9, 2020
4.5/5 The Mandalorian: Season 2 - Chapter 14: The Tragedy (TV Episode) Drew Koenig It takes the character and bluntly illustrates why he has been seen as a captivating and menacing force throughout the movies. EDIT
Posted Dec 7, 2020
2/5 Selena: The Series: Season 1 (TV, 2020) Janelle Ureta The show gives too much time to the nuts and bolts without tapping into the juice: how it all emotionally impacts Selena y Los Dinos. EDIT
Posted Dec 7, 2020
4/5 Shameless: Season 11 (TV, 2020-2021) Mary Misasi These struggles are perfect for the show to cover because the Gallaghers have always managed to find a way with or without money and during the current climate, that struggle is even more extreme. EDIT

5/5 Euphoria: Trouble Don't Last Always (TV, 2020) Kevin Lever Colman Domingo's Ali turns out to be the biggest revelation of the episode, where his smaller appearances on the show have been great and poignant, but with a larger role, Domingo is absolutely essential for the show from now on. EDIT

4.25/5 The Mandalorian: Season 2 - Chapter 13: The Jedi (TV Episode) Drew Koenig While all of this is doubtlessly exciting and exhilarating for the fans, it also becomes a thing where people that haven't watched both of the animated shows might start to feel a bit left behind. EDIT

4/5 Saved by the Bell: Season 1 (TV, 2020) Ashley Bissette Sumerel A masterful love letter to the original series while presenting a more meaningful, relevant story that holds up all on its own. EDIT

4/5 Chicago Fire: Season 9 - That Kind of Heat (TV Episode) Ashley Bissette Sumerel The dynamic of the firehouse has evolved in this way, where the characters we knew early on are all now leading a new charge. EDIT
Posted Nov 24, 2020
3.75/5 The Mandalorian: Season 2 - Chapter 12: The Siege (TV Episode) Drew Koenig The action is all good and it flows really well but never did this feel like an episode that needed to involve Mando, which is good for Star Wars overall, but less so for The Mandalorian itself. EDIT
Posted Nov 23, 2020
4/5 The Flight Attendant: Miniseries (TV, 2020) Lauren Busser It sells the audience on Cassie's psychological state and leaves enough mystery to keep us coming back for more. As HBO Max's first original release, this is absolutely necessary and a strong lead coming out of the gate. EDIT
Posted Nov 20, 2020
3/5 A Million Little Things: Season 3 (TV, 2020) Esme Mazzeo It's all acted well enough, but absolutely nothing stands out as unique on this season's premiere. EDIT

3.25/5 NCIS: Season 18 (TV, 2020) Stephanie Holland At this point in our relationship with NCIS, there are very few surprises left. We're basically an old married couple who eats at our favorite restaurant every week and knows exactly what to expect from the menu. EDIT

4/5 Grey's Anatomy: Season 17 (TV, 2020-2021) Ashley Bissette Sumerel Though the two-hour Grey's Anatomy Season 17 premiere largely focuses on the current health crisis, it still manages to offer romance, lighthearted moments, and an emotional surprise that no one could have seen coming. EDIT
Posted Nov 13, 2020
3.5/5 Chicago Fire: Season 9 (TV, 2020) Ashley Bissette Sumerel The details are there, but the [premiere] isn't about the pandemic, which I have to say, I appreciate. Instead, we see the changes that have been put in place, and there's an understanding that that's the world we're all living in right now. EDIT

3.5/5 NCIS: Los Angeles: Season 12 (TV, 2020) Stephanie Holland As season premieres go, this was a perfectly fine episode, but nothing too extraordinary happened. At a certain point, we knew where the story was going, but the fun of NCIS: LA makes the trip worth taking. EDIT
Posted Nov 9, 2020
3.75/5 The Mandalorian: Season 2 - Chapter 10: The Passenger (TV Episode) Drew Koenig This is a show that, for better or worse, wants to tell these smaller, self-contained stories of adventure. It's a modest but very attainable goal that the show has set for itself. EDIT
