3/5 Under the Silver Lake (2018) Chris Sawin Becoming entangled in this crazy spider's web of a conspiracy is more interesting than living a boring existence. Sam makes the most out of nothing. Under the Silver Lake is a spellbinding enigma of a film that is equally stimulating as it is mystifying. EDIT

2.5/5 Climax (2018) Chris Sawin Climax isn't enjoyable or entertaining; it's a raping of the senses because that's what Gaspar Noé does best. The film clobbers you with a disorienting phantasmagoria so jarring that it leaves you trembling and dumbfounded. EDIT

3/5 Piercing (2018) Chris Sawin Piercing is a flawed horror film since you don't feel emotionally invested in any of the characters, but Nicolas Pesce has crafted a brutal thriller that quite literally throws the audience for a loop and keeps the bloodshed flowing in an endless cycle. EDIT

3/5 Overlord (2018) Chris Sawin Overlord is a visual and audible ecstasy for horror fans. The intense action sequences are jaw dropping and Overlord will likely be viewed as an explosive crowd-pleaser. However, the paper thin characters and stale acting leave a lot to be desired. EDIT

3.5/5 Hold the Dark (2018) Chris Sawin Hold the Dark is the type of film you allow your brain to pluck at before fully deciding how enjoyable it is. The film is gorgeous to look at, but its meaning, purpose, and entertainment value lie strictly within how ominous you prefer your films to be. EDIT

2.5/5 Mission: Impossible -- Fallout (2018) Chris Sawin The film knows how to make your pulse race, but the story is the same as any other Mission: Impossible film and the sequel is basically dead as far as any sort of emotional acting goes. Impressive action doesn't make up for a defused storyline. EDIT

4/5 Incredibles 2 (2018) Chris Sawin It's disappointing to think the writing of Incredibles 2 initially felt like an homage to Batman: The Animated Series when in reality it's a retelling of the original film. Why does Mr Incredible have to be such a chauvinistic prick though? EDIT

3/5 Rampage (2018) Chris Sawin Rampage is pure unfiltered cheese and the type of big budget B-movie trash that would kill as a late night feature on cable television. Rampage isn't really a work of art, but it is popcorn entertainment at its most disastrous. EDIT

2.5/5 Death Wish (2018) Chris Sawin Death Wish isn't unwatchable, but it is dreadfully boring to an almost insulting extent. The film caters to obvious action thriller and revenge film stereotypes. It lacks stimulation of any kind and is the most generic vengeance imaginable. EDIT

4/5 Entanglement (2017) Chris Sawin Entanglement shines a spotlight on how vulnerable we can be as we swim through the lugubrious waters of a permanent estrangement and proves that no matter how weak and hopeless we feel our lives are often much more enjoyable than we care to admit. EDIT
