13 Reasons Why: Season 2 (2018)

Season 2
13 Reasons Why

Critics Consensus

By deviating from its source material, 13 Reasons Why can better explore its tenderly crafted characters; unfortunately, in the process, it loses track of what made the show so gripping in the first place.

Critic Reviews for 13 Reasons Why Season 2

All Critics (51) | Top Critics (16)

As with the first season, 13 Reasons Why is not an easy, breezy Saturday night binge but there's something addictive about it, that is until you remember teen angst has a limited shelf life.

The second season feels more like dealing with the aftermath of the first season's criticism, while lacking a true narrative of its own.

13 takes some of the heat off itself with an over-packed second season that doesn't quite walk back the controversies of the first, but attempts to talk them back.

Season 2 is a worthy attempt at a do-over, if a flawed one.

May 17, 2018 | Full Review…

13 Reasons Why features no shortage of missteps. But it's a show that so deeply feels for its characters, so deeply feels these scenarios, that it's hard to be mad at it.

There is not nearly enough hope, for the characters or the audience.

With the exception of a solid performance again by the talented Dylan Minnette, the Brian Yorkey-showrun adaptation has run out of gas and source material.

While the show is explicit, and not everyone's cup of tea, I do believe that if you have the mindset to look beyond the obscenities, you'd understand that it's story that needs to be told.

There was no good reason to bring 13 Reasons Why back for a second season.

I feel like this is a series with one of the strongest season finals I've seen. In this season you can see how the life of the characters has been after the events of the first season. In other words, the consequences that the actions of some of them have brought. Like the first, this season also touches the same topics but with a little more intensity. Exporando everything a little more thoroughly. It also looks like this has affected each of the characters in their life, both for good and for bad. Although I liked this series, I feel that I would not recommend it to everyone because it contains controversial themes and explicit scenes that not everyone would tolerate. I think you have to be someone strong exciting to watch this series if you don't want to be affected / influenced by it.

I didn't find this show good in the slightest.

    Season 2 was an abomination.

This show is fucking amazing. I dont know why this is getting this much hate.

This second season showed recovery for all the characters who were damaged in the first season. They show character development in every person. It was a good experience but not as good as the first season. Definitely anticipating for the third season

Not very thrilling, exciting or gripping. Not like the first season. The end will leave you more with a lot of questions instead of the excitement to wait for the next season

this is a really good show unfortunately that horriblely unnecessry scene with tyler and the broomstick means i refuse to give it

The story is good, but the first season was stronger. And closing this season .... nothing.. :(

I thought that this was a interesting show, really sad and it touches on topics like suicide, rape and everyday troubles. Picks up where the first season leaves off, see the first season first or you won't get what is happening. I binged this season of the show, it was alright but sad.

This season is a must-watch for everyone. It's about time we start talking about issues in our societies such as bullying, abuse and many other. This show is definitely graphic and as honest as a show can be. It doesn't glorify nor encourage the issues dealt with in the show and that's a lot clearer here than in season one. I would not recommend it for someone that is younger than 16 years old because it is highly triggering. In conclusion, it is very well-made and I definitely can't wait for season 3.
