30 Rock is not something you watch, it's a place you visit. Where everybody knows your name. And your withholding status. And your medical history. Where there's nothing wrong with being fun and popular and giving people what they want.

The other striking thing about the new season is the acting limitations of its star and creator, Tina Fey.

The problem, unfortunately, is that it's been a while since 30 Rock has clicked consistently.

So far, a mere one episode in, Rock remains the best comedy - though probably dead-even with "Curb Your Enthusiasm."
