In an instant, at least 4,400 overlooked, undervalued, or otherwise marginalized people who had vanished without a trace over the past century are returned to Detroit, having not aged a day and with no memory of what happened to them. As the government races to understand the phenomenon, analyze the potential threat, and contain the story, an empathetic social worker and hardened community corrections officer are among the civil servants called upon to deal with the uncanny refugees. The new partners clash in ideology and approach but gradually find they have more in common than they thought as they become familiar with those under their care -- a group of unwilling time travelers who are grappling with their impossible new reality, including the fact that they were returned with a few upgrades, and the increasing likelihood that they were brought back now for a reason they're only beginning to understand.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

Like its premise, 4400 returns from the dead more than a decade later with a successful re-entry into sci-fi mystery fodder.

In spite of its earnest ideas however tacky execution, 4400 is not about grace or subtlety when it comes to these ideas of history. Go to Full Review

In its CW incarnation, 4400 promises drama without heaviness, and the pilot sets up various story points without feeling too portentous. Go to Full Review

A reboot of the 2004 series, I don't remember liking that as much as this. Go to Full Review

Overall, it's an entertaining science fiction series, and one that doesn't shy away from offering an uncomfortable message about the times we live in. Go to Full Review

Though the CW's 4400 is very much a CW show-which is to say that tonally, it can sometimes feel a bit uneven and unsure of itself-it's one working with a set of weighty, complex ideas deserving of more time in the spotlight. Go to Full Review

It is my hope that as the story progresses each of the main characters and the other returnees gets a chance to shine. The show is set up for it, giving the characters multi-layered storylines that don't necessarily explain the plot. Go to Full Review

Ville T @RT48416766 03/13/2025 Overly wokewashed to a gringe level. I have nothing against it but when EVERYTHING feels like it revolves around it things start to get boring and annoying real fast... See more 07/06/2022 Watched the first episode and had to stop. Poor acting and way to pollical for me for a TV show. See more 06/08/2022 Being a big fan of the original 4400, I tried to give it a chance to this reboot. I am so disappointed that they wasted resources making this show, this could've been great, but was boring, had poor acting skills, and was hard to fill attached to. I am really glad was canceled, I hope in the future to get a real reboot with a better cast and direction. See more Susan J @susie67 05/13/2022 I think they took people from a first year drama class to cast this show. Horribly acted. Great show and would have been much better had they proper actors. See more 04/04/2022 Every episode kept me hooked and wanting to know more. See more 03/12/2022 If you are interested in black propaganda, this is the show for you. A high majority black lead cast where black people are abused and oppressed by white people. Where white security officer jailers physically and verbally abuse unlawfully detained black people. Follows black protagonist leads in their journey to freedom from the oppression of white casted government officials while being unlawfully detained in a hotel prison for majority of the first season. This show was originally about 4400 people taken across time and space, sent back to present day with individual powers that they learn their actions with these powers will nudge an extinction level event in the future to prevent it from happening. I only watched 7 episodes because i couldn't bare to watch this show anymore. in these 7 episodes which was around 350 minutes, only about 4 minutes was them actually using their powers and they had no idea why they had them and only a few of the black people had them. The other 346 minutes was purely about how white people are bad and black people are unfairly treated. I can't believe they green lit this show. This show is just about spreading hate towards white people. White people can be a victim of racism, this show proves it. See more Read all reviews
