Killer Women: Season 1 Reviews

A fairly straightforward and briskly perfunctory affair.

Hannah Shakespeare, the show's creator, tries to bring some Scandal-like sizzle to an otherwise very basic procedural, but the effort seems forced, silly and actually quite dreary.

The intent throughout is to say wow at her looks and her actions even though the action is often silly and the dialogue a joke.

The show comes of as painfully unoriginal and dated.

All in all, an entertaining debut for a promising new drama.

While I applaud the fact that someone decided Helfer was a great choice to play a gun-toting law enforcer, Killer Women misses a grand opportunity to go nuts.

This ABC drama is killer bad. No, really, it's shoot-me-now bad.
Jan 8, 2014
Even if it's not quite there yet, I'm more than willing to stick around to see it try. Killer Women may not be perfect, but at least it has something to say.

Her [Molly] first case, which begins with the shooting of a bride at the altar, takes a too maudlin turn, as does Molly's backstory as the victim of an abusive marriage.
Jan 8, 2014
A clunky, clichd Texas-based crime drama that has the added bonus of being unforgivably sexist, never mind that it was created and produced by women.
Jan 8, 2014
It breaks absolutely no new ground, but it's lively, fast-paced and enjoyable enough, if you like this sort of thing.

The hour resembles one of those straight-to-DVD action films starring Steven Seagal or Jean Claude Van Damme.

Even in its splashiness, Killer Women strives to bring something different to a run-of-the-mill procedural.

The performances are OK, and it would be nice to see Helfer in better material, but the scripts are not just cliche-ridden - they're moth-eaten.

Killer Women centers on a sexy-but-strong law-enforcing heroine, whose 10-gallon hat is lily white as she goes about solving preposterous crimes.

Shot with more style than the premise suggests (and counting Modern Family's Sofia Vergara among its producers), Women is mindless fun, perhaps, but unlikely to make a killing.
Jan 6, 2014
The only truly sad part is that this is the kind of series where the suspect responds by opening up rather than saying "What's that got to do with me?"

It's all pretty retro and forgettable.

(Killer Women) is an unsatisfying offering that's difficult to recall an hour after you've watched it.
