Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Tim Minear reimagine the procedural drama with "9-1-1." The series explores the high-pressure experiences of first responders -- including police officers, firefighters and dispatchers -- who are thrust into the most frightening, shocking and heart-stopping situations. These emergency responders must try to balance saving those who are at their most vulnerable with solving the problems in their own lives. The show draws from real-life, high-pressure experiences of first responders who regularly face heart-stopping situations that are often unpredictable, intense and uplifting at the same time.

As the show becomes more interwoven, some things are made immediately different with the switch in networks. 9-1-1 is diving even deeper into its characters rather than relying too heavily on just the procedural element. Go to Full Review

Jaimy d Nov 14 I love this show. But this season was bad and very rushed. A lot of story lines were rushed and not fleshed out the way it should be. Also just one episode of actual emergencies? It felt like a was watching a Mexican soap. And the fact there were no stakes at all of the people getting hurt or dying. They just glossed over everything. I'm still going to watch season 8 and hoping that this one is done better. See more Peter K @Vacadoug Oct 11 Great follow-through from last season: miss 'Bobby' but Angela Basset is such an amazing asset in keeping this franchise afloat (no pun intended on the whale in the opening season) along with a great supporting cast that never disappoints! (ENGLISH) 9-1-1 doesn’t try to reinvent television, but that doesn’t stop it from being a highly effective show at what it does: entertaining. From its very first season, it’s managed to hook viewers with a well-balanced mix of drama, adrenaline, and surprisingly relatable characters. While some storylines may feel like they're pushing the limits of believability, they work. And they work well. Each episode is an emotional rollercoaster: one minute you’re watching an impossible rescue from a burning building, and the next you’re immersed in the personal conflicts of the main characters. That’s where the series truly shines. Beyond the disasters and shocking moments, the characters are well developed. They're not just “heroes of the day” — they’re people with trauma, doubts, complicated pasts, and relationships that evolve over time. Some episodes even manage to tug at your heartstrings when you least expect it. Is it over the top? Absolutely. Are there unrealistic moments? Of course. But that’s part of its charm. The important thing is that it’s never boring. It’s fun to watch, and episode after episode, it maintains a steady rhythm between high-stakes action and emotional growth. Not every procedural drama can say the same. If you accept its tone and go along for the ride, 9-1-1 rewards you with a gripping, intense, and often surprising TV experience. It’s not a masterpiece, but it delivers on its promise — and sometimes, that’s more than enough. Always nail biting moments, I love the cast and the amazing story lines! See more Johann D. M @Johann33 09/12/2024 HRILLING AND GRIPPING!!! This season has been an emotional rollercoaster, and it might be one of the most memorable yet. It is also shorter, which feels like an improvement. Our favorite characters face new challenges, from their own "Poseidon Adventure" to a beloved character suddenly discovering his bisexuality, a nearly-crashed wedding, and a devastating fire that almost claims the life of a major character. While it is undeniably entertaining to watch these characters navigate dangerous situations and personal struggles, it is hard not to notice how deeply unrealistic and repetitive the show has become. Yet, despite the characters' never-ending bad luck and the soap opera-like storylines, we cannot help but return for every episode. At least now, it’s perfect for binge-watching!
