What distinguishes classics from mediocrity isn't the content, but the presentation, and Helix's first episode presented its material in ways which let its viewers know that it's aiming high.

As intense and amazing as this episode's ending was, I think we're in for far more interesting and unexpected twists to come.

Billy Campbell anchors the cast admirably as Dr. Alan Farragut... Mr. Campbell is one of the busiest actors around... An abundance of work can sometimes lead to performances that feel phoned in, but not here.

SyFy's Helix dares to stand out in a landscape already filled to capacity with genre-based behemoths..

It's a delicate balancing act, but the premiere dangles enough DNA strands for a discerning audience to want to see where they might lead.
