Sue S @MoseleyBab Feb 13 Excellent series, very brave of the French to show the Milice as vicious as they were. It also punctures the myth that everyone was in the Resistance. In English it’s called The Line, very apt, who draws the line where? Do you sell to the Germans? Do you inform on your neighbours to save yourself? Fascinating series, thought provoking and thoroughly recommended… See more Mark K @RT59200614 Aug 28 I really felt the characters. Felt the love and hate for many. Realized how difficult a time it was for many during snd immediately after the occupation. I wish during the dubbing into English they picked voice overs with appropriate accents. Eg. German French English. See more Darlene H @RT59328463 Aug 10 This is riveting! It's so well done I can't begin to explain it. Who needs "Game of Thrones" when there is a "real life" drama like this one. I would call this a "MUST WATCH," because you really begin to understand the full impact of the German occupation of " a french village." See more Katherine B @RT84596986 Jul 14 I watched the whole series nonstop. It is so addictive. You could identify with the characters. There are no good or bad people. Just people who are hungry, afraid, needing to protect their families and themselves. Just people who want to do good but are faced with dilemmas. Should you betray a few to save more lives? What would you do if you were tortured? These characters are like you and me. They need love, warmth, safety. They do unpredictable things they can’t explain, even to themselves. They have ideals, and utopian fantasies only to be sorrowfully disillusioned. They distort the truth not only protect themselves but to comfort themselves because the truth is too brutal. I could go on and on about this series. It is a great lesson in learning no to judge. See more Ken B @RT46811641 May 11 I've just completed the first season of seven seasons. Spellbinding and thrilling. Incredible acting and tense situations, together with genuine emotional complications makes this series edge-or-your-seat TV. The subtitles are done well enough to keep up with this action. Must see! See more C. S @RT96657880 03/28/2025 Fantastic series, excellent actors and the story line helps understand the mecanisms of war. None of the protagonists are either goodie goodie nor bad bad, they all have a human streak. Towards the very end of the series the scenes become a bit random, but otherwise a series not to be missed. Its very long, 12 parts at 9 one hour episodes each. But one lives in that world for a while. Sometimes hard to bear due to the cruelty of some of the Germans or the French collaborators and the absolute thickheadednes of some of the communists.
