This show is great and it's the first sitcom I've seen since "Parks and Recreation" that used the mockumentary format first pioneered on "The Office".

One of the most charming new shows on TV. Quinta Brunson stars as pert and perky Janine, a young teacher at a Philadelphia school, trying her best to educate her kids, fit in, and help out. (In one episode, her efforts to tun the juice back on during a school-wide power outage have comically disastrous results; in another, her attempts at helping a stubbornly low-tech older colleague suddenly turn high-tech don't work out very well, either.) The teachers are quirky, the kids adorable, and there's a nice little takeaway--a "lesson"--at the end of every show, too. More than a workplace comedy, it is also a look at the difficulties of teaching, and the dedicated (and sometimes hilariously misguided) professionals to whom we entrust out children. Shot mockumentary-style--there's lots of talking right to the camera, in the style of "The Office"--and created by Brunson herself. A winner.

It's just a delight. A new highlight of my week.

This show has been touted as realistic. Why would you want to watch a show about how underfunded and bad public school is. It is a rip off of the office. Its a sitcom that is not funny. If there is any comedy it comes from the kids. The main actress is awkward and not funny. The principal might be the worst actress i have ever seen. I do not understand the hype at all. I heard it was good, it was not enjoyable. Not looking for realism in my sitcoms. Looking for comedy or something redeeming.

A mixture of fun and funny, Abbott Elementary shines with it's strong cast of characters. Often the jokes only work due to the systemically abysmal state of the US education system. It's a dark hurdle to jump over, but it works almost all the time so long as your humor is calibrated for it. Abbott Elementary recognizes this and leans in at every opportunity with their exceptional cast for a rare basic cable slam dunk.

As a teacher, this show is the first I've seen on a major network that hints at some of the hilariousness that is public school education. Definitely a must-see, even if you've never taught. :)

Humorous and engaging! Love the realistic portrayal of the struggles and triumphs associated with public education!

Mediocrity is now set in an elementary school. The stories are average and predictable and acting is sub-par. A.P. Bio was ten times better.
