Historians and other academics and authors comment on the story being retold, while dramatic re-creations follow it -- often, in this case, to harrowing effect. Go to Full Review

Simon R @RT73619655 10/30/2023 Age of samurai is ok, but only good thing is animanions and historians talking. But history is not so aqurate for those who want to know a lot of it. I recommend for those who want to learn only a peak of it . They should make 2 seasons with more episodes and talk about more important events like, shimazu, mori and rivaly of uesegi and taked and not showing date. Its good for those, who want to learn little. See more 12/12/2021 They didn't even get the best historians for this documentary, the ones they got were taken out of context, the sets and costumes look horrible and inaccurate. It's real bad, seeing critics give it 100% is painful to see. See more 10/07/2021 This TV series is the worst. Although it claims to be a historical documentary, it is often based on oral legends. Even the oral legends are mostly untrustworthy stories. In particular, is it true that the source of the content related to the costume of Kwak Jae-woo, a military commander of the Joseon Dynasty, is based on an oral tradition in Korea? And in the story of Oda Nobunaga's succession to power, at his father's funeral, incense was sprinkled on his father's foundation, not his father's body. Producers didn't pay any attention to the reproduction of the scene based on the historical evidence. At least if you were going to make a historical documentary, you should have made an effort to find historical records. This is low quality porn based on orientalist fantasy, nothing more, nothing less. See more ma'ark t @RT57514104 07/17/2021 Age of Samurai is a really informative and easy way to digest this important part of Japanese history. See more 04/11/2021 With little details and wrong historical info being used in the whole film, this is of nowhere a good way to learn about this time. Cultural appearances are also so off that are seemingly stupid, imagine back in the time they would burn the corpse instead of burial. Wrong depiction of usage of armory and weapons everywhere; most of the time there's not a spear appears on the battlefield. You think people back in the time so dumb they dunno how to make spears for a longer reach? Even farmers know to use a pointy stick. The correct things being introduced are only the names, but skipped many others that should be introduced instead of being stuff off from this 6 episode series of stupidly high-resolution fancy camera things and movie items that are not even enough fit for an ordinary historical depiction. Almost nothing is good in this work other than the filter shots that every normal filmmaker can do. Its self claiming to be a documentary is one of the most cringe things I ever heard in 2021. See more 04/08/2021 Entertaining while also being a documentary. See more Read all reviews
