The games were back and more brutal than ever. There were not as many episodes in this season, but it made for a more compact, intense thriller. *Spoilers* Usagi, who is still grieving her father, appears to be tricked into venturing into the Borderlands by Ryugi and An helps Arisu enter the Borderland in to rescue Usagi. It is a bit confusing as to how one of the citizens of the Borderland, Banda Sunato, is able to enter reality and interact with some of the characters, but overall, I did not mind it. The games are what makes the show. It starts off with Old Maid with electrified chairs and Sacred Fortune in which fire arrows are fired at players who answer questions wrong. All the games have leveled up and appear to be more based on chance than the games in the previous season. All the games were more elaborate, clever and devastating. I thought the ending was entirely satisfying and enjoyed the cameos. I hope there are additional seasons. The introduction of Ryuji, along with Usagi returning to Borderland with him, ended up hurting the overall story. Most of the time, I found myself only wanting to watch Arisu and his team. Whenever the focus shifted back to Ryuji and Usagi, it just killed the momentum. At some point, I even found myself wishing their storyline would just end so the focus could return to Arisu. Those scenes didn't feel as important, and honestly, if most of the Ryuji-Usagi parts were removed, the story would probably feel much tighter and more focused. See more Read all reviews
