Alien: Earth slows down considerably for episode four. “Observation” is more functional than fun, seemingly aimed at setting up the back half of season one while also filling in some gaps in the characters’ backstories.

Observation did a lot of table setting as Alien: Earth reaches its halfway point just as a number of subplots seem to be on the verge of exploding. This definitely had a calm before the storm tone.
