Audience Reviews for All American: Season 1

Despite some predictability, the season sets solid groundwork for many layers of depth for its main cast. It feels like they only scratched the surface of certain characters and storyline potential, which keeps you interested and engaged. Episodes are meaty, and it's a long season. It also boasts gripping performances and a constantly untangling storyline is believable and takes-on real-world issue such as classism, race, and intersectionality. Great modern soap/sports-drama series.

This is an amazing start up to a show and introduces the characters pretty well. It's entertaining and hypes you up in the end which makes you want to watch the next episode automatically so that you can then go into an endless cycle of watching.

There's a lot to like in Season 1.

This is a program that is certainly not produced for my demographic: white, 70-years-old, and female. However, I really liked it. There wasn't a misstep from the actors; the writing was very good; the direction, production, and filming were first-rate. I read some pretty hostile reactions to it and am surprised as to why? As commercial programming goes, it seems pretty typical. No surprises, feel-good, medium-heavy fare.

The idea and story is great but the execution is piss poor and so is the acting. Out of all the show I've ever watched completely from start to finish this is probably some of the worst acting I've watched. The only reason i continued on with it is because the story itself was good. I just wish the story was given to a different production crew and cast. The main actor Daniel Ezra isn't too bad but as for all the supporting cast its just terrible. Every reaction to a situation just looks and feels so disingenuous and things that are normally a big deal in someones life is just brushed off quickly. Its a shame because this show could have been so much better!

Act One, Scene One: Open with an extraordinarily stupid and unrealistic football game and a final play to win at the gun. OOF. That WAS rotten.

Great acting, interesting storylines and entertaining
  • Jun 09, 2021
All American is a fantastic series that is truly captivating and interesting...a must watch for sure!
  • Aug 18, 2020
It has a great story but terrible writing and mediocre performances. The lead character continues to make decisions that audiences can't relate to, and the show has predictable plot elements, but with better writing it could improve.
  • Aug 04, 2020
Engaging characters, emotional stories and strong football makes this a blast.
