Alphas are ordinary citizens with amazing abilities (including superhuman physical and mental abilities) who operate within the Department of Defense. The clandestine group, led by pre-eminent neurologist Dr. Lee Rosen, investigates cases that point to others with similar Alpha abilities. Working against the clock to solve this new brand of crime, the Alphas must prevent their own personality differences and disparate backgrounds from interfering with their overall mission -- catching the enemy.

It's that kind of science-fiction drama, one that understands that a little bit of bathos and banality will enrich the mix, rather than curdle it. Go to Full Review

SyFy's Alphas might have been a reasonable excuse for summer entertainment five years ago but we've seen too many shows like it in the last few to give this disappointment a pass. Go to Full Review

james o @RT63376403 Mar 29 the series similar X-Men. See more 03/07/2014 What an unique series. Most of the complaints are that this show follows the same path as many other sci-fi shows. First, I will admit that I have not watched a lot of sc-fi series. However, I am a fan of superheroes. To me, Alphas Season 1 is seems to almost create a modern, realistic version of X-Men. Instead of mutants, you have alphas. Instead of Professor X, you get Dr. Rosen. But whether or not that is important to others, the show itself and very entertaining, even if the first season starts out slowly. See more Read all reviews
