Alphas are ordinary citizens with amazing abilities (including superhuman physical and mental abilities) who operate within the Department of Defense. The clandestine group, led by pre-eminent neurologist Dr. Lee Rosen, investigates cases that point to others with similar Alpha abilities. Working against the clock to solve this new brand of crime, the Alphas must prevent their own personality differences and disparate backgrounds from interfering with their overall mission -- catching the enemy.

Yes, it's basically the story that every X-Men arc or film explores, but it's a good story, and there's plenty of room for unexplored territory that Alphas can mine. Go to Full Review

Competent and enjoyable when it comes to action and pacing, but this show will rise and fall on the continuation of the character development begun in Season 1, and the jury's still out on that front. Go to Full Review

Alphas certainly didn't reinvent the genre, but it provided a nice balance of witty dialogue, impressive effects, and three-dimensional characters. Go to Full Review

Compared to last season, it looks like Alphas isn't dragging its feet this summer, but, instead, continuing the fun, frantic pace of the season finale. Go to Full Review

From early in this story it looked like all the pieces would be back in their respective boxes by the end, and that was exactly what happened. They also didn't develop much in the way of new story threads to run. Go to Full Review

But what's really interesting about the show is that you also see the crippling side effects of these powers, which gives them an added sense of humanity. Go to Full Review

05/21/2020 Needs to be reebooted!! What a brilliant tv show, gutted there was no more after this season See more 08/20/2019 Just discovered this gem and loved it! A third season would have wrapped it up, but SciFy cancelled it. Despite that, worth watching! See more 12/30/2014 So I'm def hooked on this show Alphas now! Lol. It's kinda a mix between Heroes and Fringe! Summer Glau! I'm blaming you if Alphas doesn't get picked up for another season. You are cute but you're cursed and you need to stop showing up on shows I like! See more 11/11/2014 The potentially amazing show that never saw the light of day with a series finale. Unfortunately, that's how I will always remember this highly entertaining and interesting superhero show. Seriously, I cannot believe that a show with this type of genre would get cancelled especially after people began raving about it being a more realistic version of X Men (how can something like that fail?). The characters were great and well developed as well as their interaction and relationship with each other (the center stone focus of the show). This will be a head scratcher for the years to come in blind hope that a Season 3 miraculously see the light of day. See more 03/07/2014 This season builds on the momentum and adrenaline of the finale of season 1 and keeps up the intensity. Interestingly, as the problems and enemies of Rosen's team grow more powerful and more dangerous, we see Rosen and the fellow team members face decisions with no comfortable solutions. Things become pretty grim and it is shocking to see how far even Rosen falls in this season. See more Read all reviews
