"American Horror Story" was created by the co-creators of "Glee," but the shows have little in common besides that. The show revolves around the Harmons, a family of three, who move from Boston to Los Angeles in order to reconcile past anguish. What the Harmons don't know is that the house they've moved into is haunted. But it's not haunted by Casperesque friendly ghosts -- it's haunted by demonic creatures. The creatures have a history of not only spooking the house's residents but also devouring them. After living in this house, family patriarch and psychiatrist, Ben, may need a shrink of his own.

A big, disastrous mix that ends up stripping away the essence of two not-so-great seasons and wiping out the show’s soul in exchange for whatever Ryan Murphy thought would be a good idea.

Pretty average and harmless season. The first three episodes are unappealing, but just as you'll feel ready to give up on it, the plot suddenly takes an unexpected path. It does get slightly better from there, but the villain is unconvincing and even miscast in my opinion. The plot drags, then takes an unexpected path yet again. The result is a pretty lame season but the links to the previous ones keep it from being disposable. So if you dreamed about being selective by adding only the really great seasons of AHS to your TV shows collection, sorry. This one's a keeper because of the familiar character arcs, even though you'll probably never revisit it.
